How to install a downloaded App on an Android phone.

  1. Swipe the screen from the top in a downward motion to reveal downloads.
  2. Once the application has completed the download, select the file ‘fleetcar.2.71.apk. (If the application is downloaded more than once the filename will be appended with a version copy number.)
  3. You should see a message entitled ‘Install blocked’. This message informs you that you have downloaded an application from a non ‘Google’ source. Press the [Settings] button.
  4. The next screen will be a ‘Security’ screen. You will need to scroll down to the checkbox that states ‘Unknown sources’. Check that box.
  5. Once this has been done you should see a message entitled ‘Unknown sources’. This lets you know that an application is about to be installed from a non ‘Google’ source. Be sure that the ‘Allow initial installation only’ box is checked before pressing [OK]. This setting will only allow this one-time installation of the program. Any other attempts to install from an ‘Unknown source’ should not be allowed. Press the [OK] button.
  6. At the bottom of the next screen please press the [Install] button.
  7. A screen will appear informing you the application is being installed on your phone. Once this process is completed press the [Open] button on the bottom of the screen. The application will display the FleetCar logo and then the screen will change to allow you to log into the system.
  8. You will need to contact Central Dispatch in order to register the application before you are allowed to log in.
  9. After the application has been installed to your phone an icon with the FleetCar logo will appear on the main screen. Any time you wish to access the application please press the ‘FleetCar’ icon.
  10. Failure to follow these instructions correctly can possibly result in security breaches to your phone.
